Review of Tiva PVC Decking

Evaluation of Tiva PVC decking

Building a composite deck is sure to transform your yard into something magical without all the maintenance of a traditional deck. But knowing which brand to choose is tricky.

Therefore, we’re diving into Tiva’s PVC decking, reviewing it so you can decide if it’s your best fit.

The Company Making Tiva PVC Decking

Tiva is a family-run Canadian business based in Mississauga, Ontario, committed to crafting innovative, high-quality building products for your perfect outdoor space. The company operates primarily in the PVC decking industry, and its materials are created with longevity, durability, and aesthetics in mind.

What Is Tiva Decking Made From?

TIVADEK PVC deck boards are made from advanced carbon nanotechnology on the inside and ASA capstock on the outside. The materials minimize the maintenance you’ll need to perform without compromising beauty or performance.

The patented core makes it one of the strongest PVC deck boards available.

How Many Decking Colors Does Tiva Have?

Aside from the durability and strength of the materials, aesthetics were a massive deal for us when reviewing Tiva’s decking. After all, you want your deck to blend in beautifully with your house, meaning the colour range is ultra-important.

Tiva makes five different styles of decking, three of which belong to the TIVADEK category, while the remaining two are classified as TIVADOK.

TIVADEK Modern Series

If you like bold designs, you’ll like the Modern Series. The colours offered are as follows:

  • Birchwood
  • Charwood

Despite the limited choice, one of them is bound to suit most new-builds or contemporary-style homes.

TIVADEK Architectural Series

The Architectural Series caters to those who relish the classic hardwood look. We were surprised by how well each colour represents its namesake:

  • Ebony
  • Walnut
  • Elmwood
  • Beechwood

TIVADEK Designer Series

The final TIVADEK series is heavily inspired by nature. The attention to detail in the variegation is impressive. Each colour matches the wood wonderfully:

  • Ashwood
  • Blackwood
  • Ironwood
  • Chestnut
  • Tigerwood
  • Kingwood

TIVADOK Marine Series

The TIVADOK Marine Series is for waterside decks. No matter which colour you get, they’re scratch-resistant, protected from UV rays, stain-resistant, moisture-resistant, and suitable for harsher climates.

The colours are designed with the coast in mind, bringing elegance and style to any waterfront building:

  • Beechwood
  • Elmwood

TIVADOK Dockside Series

The Dockside Series is Tiva’s newest board. Again, the colours were inspired by the shoreline and work to complement your waterside abode:

  • Coastwood
  • Riverwood

The ASA technology (otherwise known as acrylic-styrene-acrylonitrile) creates a wood grain effect that decreases the likelihood of slipping, even in wet weather.

The increased traction makes the decking boards perfect for areas prone to excessive wetness (like around a swimming pool) or slip hazards (such as stair steps).

How Long Is Tiva Warranty?

Tiva’s warranty period is one of the main aspects we appreciate with this company. All TIVADEK PVC deckingOpens in a new tab. products come with a limited lifetime warranty. Depending on your buyer type, the warranty terms change:

  • For a residential purchaser, the guarantee extends to fifty years.
  • For a commercial purchaser, the warranty extends to fifteen years.

Of course, there are some restrictions and exclusions in their warranty policy. But generally speaking, their coverage range is pretty broad. You can expect them to cover the following if the damage is the manufacturer’s or material’s fault:

  • Splitting
  • Rotting
  • Splintering
  • Delamination
  • Cracking
  • Swelling
  • Termites or fungal decay

This is similar warranty length and coverage for residential applications as some of the bigger PVC brands like Azek and FiberonOpens in a new tab..

The Bottom Line: Is Tiva Decking Worth It?

Now for the final question — do we recommend Tiva decking?

Yes! As for aesthetics, we love the options (despite the somewhat limited choice in the Modern Series). But beyond the looks, the patented core technology guaranteed to stand the test of time along with the lifetime warranty, makes it a no-brainer addition to your home.
